The Overview:
St Catherine’s College is one of the constituent colleges of the world famous University of Oxford in England. Its motto is Nova et Vetera, which translates as “the new and the old.”

The college buildings were designed by the Danish Architect Arne Jacobsen in 1960 and are a stunning example of modern mid-20th Century architecture. The buildings are now Grade 1 listed and considered the most important 20th Century buildings in Oxford.
Working within these constraints the college needed to provide a good lighting environment that replacing their aging traditional lighting solutions like for like due to their high energy consumptions and poor reliability.

The Requirement:
The College wanted to look at using sustainable, cost-effective and ultimately higher quality light fittings across its estate. Reducing or eliminating the need for lighting maintenance was a priority.Facade3

The Solution:

The EVO range includes a wide range of options and variants so almost all of the legacy fixtures could be replaced with one style of fixture. The very even and low glare effect of the EVO was also perfect in lecture theatres and classrooms. EVO downlights have been installed in the corridors and walkways, classrooms and halls of residence.
